Word of the year instead of New Year’s resolutions
New Years Resolutions? Yes or no?
I love the beginning of a new year.
It gives you the opportunity to reflect on the old year, to let go of the old and to welcome the new with joy. But I also love the rough nights around the turn of the year, which I have been celebrating with a lot of love and joy for several years.
Something I always do at this time is choose a word for the coming year.
Because I haven’t had New Year’s resolutions for a few years now, but annual words.
Since I’ve been with my Business & Life Coach Jo Bendle, there has always been a word of the month.
This means that we set a focus for the coming month in each of our monthly planning sessions. And define a word that inspires us to follow this focus or reminds us of what is particularly important to us this month.
Some of these Words or word phrases for me were, for example:
focus
Less is more!
Mindset
Body before business
Everything is figureoutable (I had read Marie Forleo’s book shortly beforehand ????)
Brave
Believe
trust
POWER
Just do it!
Energetic
Calmly
TO DO
In November my word of the month was “SELF”. It was very important to me to focus on strengthening my body, my health and my mindset.
This then became “BE” in December. Just to be, to be ME. The real me, to live my essence and show.
It quickly became clear that BE would also be my word for the new year.
The meaning of this little word and what is behind it fills me with excitement, spurs me on and also gives me courage and strength.
For me, BE means to be the way I am, to do what I want, to do what is good for me. And without egoism, but simply to be me.
Because that’s what life is about, isn’t it?
I love this small but oh so powerful word so much that I had a bracelet made with it. So I am reminded of my motto every day.
How about you? Do you have a word or a motto for the new year?
If you don’t have one yet, or if you are having a hard time finding one, then it might help you too this article on the subject Courage.
